Halfway up a rocky bluff that loomed above our campsite, this is a shot of the neighboring guest camp in Wadi Rum. Tucked between an intriguing Sci-Fi rockface backdrop and giant red sand dunes, this tent based guest camp seemed quite lively compared to the quiet nature of ours. I think a good sized European tour group was booked there for a few nights.
Our camp on the otherhand was relatively quiet. There were only 8 people in our site -- a camp that could accomodate about 250 people! I didn't mind. A few of us sat about talking late into the night after a delicious Syrian dinner of stewed chicken & potatoes and several salads -- both fruit and vegetable. The sky was a dark violet hue and just as the call for lights out occurred, the wind picked up and quickly whipped dust into the air -- extinguishing my hopes for sleeping out under a million bright stars...

very well controlled light

@drum: Cheers mate! Thank you kindly! This was quite early... 8AM maybe... so the light held very well -- plus there was enough dust in the air to block out much of the strong light rays. :)

1 Jul 2008 10:12pm
