a World Suspended In Dreams...

i stood in the icy, mid-morning darkness watching the beautiful light glimmer in the sky. i was awake but certainly dreaming: a long and deep, violet, waking dream. the water lapped softly against the shore, but otherwise, the world as i knew it had come to a frozen stand still. i, too, stood silently -- frozen in rapture -- trapped within this cold, foreign world; a world suspended in dreams...

Even though I normally don't like shots with an artificial look yours truly stands out. Amazing toning. One of the best images I have seen for quite some time...

@Mirko Herzner: thanks heaps Mirko!! i am doing a fair bit of experimenting in photoshop! this photo was converted to duotone and then i played with tinting within the different light levels -- shadows, middle tonalities, and highlights. :) sorry to hear we won't be meeting this December -- but no matter, it will happen one way or another i am sure!! maybe we can meet in northern Norway in March? ;)

Nice words and a beautiful picture to go with them, though I think the treatment is a tad hard. A little more detail in the shadow areas wouldn't go amiss if the original has it.

@grouser: thanks for the honest feedback Grouser and yes -- the processing is a tad hard, but i wasn't as much worried with details in the deepest of shadows here, as dreamscapes don't focus on the details in the dark areas -- they tend to dissapear into unfathomable darkness... almost an intangible flatness -- as if the lighter parts of the image float over a black abyss. :)

The dark purples and blacks create such a mood. The way the last of the light outlines the clouds and the gentle waves of the ocean is sheer brilliance. Beautiful shot.

@Steven: thanks Steven!! i did play around a good deal with this image as i wanted it to be more dreamscape than reality! i don't remember exactly what i did as it was over a few work periods, but i believe i masked the light on the water to more appropriately match the light the sky -- which i modified at an earlier time! cheers to you! :)

Deejay, the color that you have chosen is very effective in this shot, it's like old Kodak color, and the tint emphasizes the Dream theme in your title.
