Myrdalsjokull Glacier from a DistancePosted by dj.tigersprout (New York City, United States) on 12 August 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. hello everyone! sorry to be away for so long -- i am finally working, this is my second week working full time, and all of a sudden, i wonder where all my faaabulous personal time has gone?!? :) you'd figure after 4 months of not working i wouldn't mind... but funnily it is quite poignant... like a part of me is missing somehow... well, all is good, and i have had a slew of wonderful mates from all over the world dropping in to NYC for quick visits, so i have been happily running around and catching up with them, indeed! what a great summer it has been already -- and there are still quite a few sun filled days and even more friends headed this way!! i haven't been blogging much (obviously) nor doing much processing... but i still have a good number of photos that have never been posted and i am quite happy with how they have turned out. here is a shot from the wonderfully isolated black sands of Vik, this time at the water's edge looking back, inland, towards the giant super-structure of the columnar basalt cascading down to the near mid-horizon... and just off to the left in the far distance, the mid-sized and beautiful white jewel that is Myrdalsjokull glacier. what a gorgeous landscape -- so pristine, so tranquil. i hope as many of you as possible get to see this amazing country for yourselves. really -- if you are a nature lover, this is certainly a paradise of sorts! for those of your on the east coast of canada or the united states, or in western europe -- it is so close!! just a 5 hour overnight flight!!! so get moving!! the economic crisis that iceland is experiencing makes the trip more than worth the effort in terms of price break -- and you will be doing the icelanders a huge favor by bringing in much needed cash flow. and just think, the pictures you will bring home will stay imprinted on your memories forever! anyways, i have missed all of you in my absence and look forward to catching up with all the wonderful photos you have posted over the weeks. though i won't be posting as often, i do promise to get at least 2 up per week!! although as today is wednesday, i may just keep it to one this week!!! (thanks KEN for kicking me back into action!!!) :) i hope you all have been well!! cheers and god bless!! :)
