Recent Sculptural Works, Open Studios, NYC

this past weekend was the 3rd (4rth?) annual Bushwick Open Studios art festival with several hundred artists displaying their work in their studios, in museum group shows, sidewalk exhibitions and performance centers. these events take place over 3 square miles in Bushwick an area north east of Williamsburg here in Brooklyn. as we live in an adjacent community to Bushwick (and only blocks from the city line), my wonderfully creative and very dexterous housemate, IAN TRASK, set up studio in our garage and basement to display his engaging and beautiful sculptural work of found trash, twine and yarn, scrap metal and utensils as well as cardboard.

this is a shot of our very clean garage, right after Ian had put the finishing touches on these 2 magnificent cardboard works shown here (the ladder just happens to be there -- but i quite like it compositionally!!). for more information on Ian's unique and varied sculptural work check out his website below:
