Ken from United StatesHi Jaycee, Nice different image with the plastic on the building..kinda like a new toy to open. 18 May 2009 5:10am @Ken: yes -- a new beginning of sorts! Linerberry from Sumner, Christchurch, New ZealandAmazing!!! So light up above and yet so dark below!!! I have never been to such a large city and I always imagine there is not much light at ground level!! Superb perspective!! 18 May 2009 5:45am @Linerberry: thanks Liners!! yes -- there are many places that have subdued lighting -- but there is so much glass and reflective materials, there is always some sort of light at the lower levels... it is wondrous to behold!! :) xx Marion from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaBeautiful sky. It is like you are in a canyon of buildings. Must make you long for the wide open spaces. 18 May 2009 6:06am @Marion: thanks Marion!!! well i live out of the main part of the city a ways where we have lost of sky -- so when i am downtown i am ok with the small angles of sky that are often visible up and between the buildings... all those pieces of sky make me feel dreamy!!! :) dan from Paris, FranceThe city imprisons the man... Fortunately, the glance escapes ! 18 May 2009 6:40am @dan: merci a toi Dan!!! :) yes -- the glance escapes upwards!!! :) MaryB from Staffordshire, United KingdomNice one Jaycee, love the silhouette of what looks to be a billboard. I don't think i could stay there for too long it looks claustraphobic! 18 May 2009 6:46am @MaryB: cheers Mary -- yes this was a small alley way... i just loved the tight compression -- but then being able to look up and see a vast magnificent sky above all else!! :) Mirko Herzner from GermanyNice flow from bright to dark here. A conceptual image. Well done! 18 May 2009 7:04am @Mirko Herzner: thanks much Mirko!! :) Aurore from Paris, FranceLove all these tones of grey under a blue skye and the perspective... Huge and great ! :) 18 May 2009 7:58am @Aurore: cheers Aurore!!! :) thanks! Zing from Hamilton, New ZealandLove the blue sky and the clouds, great perspective. 18 May 2009 8:09am MadScientist from Düsseldorf, GermanyThe financial district wearing a mourning veil - iconic! 18 May 2009 8:27am @MadScientist: YES!! :) but i also see it as 'under repair'... so hopefully there will be a new beginning soon!! :) grouser from Ludlow, United KingdomNice shot DJ. Like the wrapped buildings gauzy net curtain finish 18 May 2009 10:48am @grouser: thanks mate!! and yes -- me too -- caught my eye right away!!! :) @callemie: cheers Callemie!! and yes -- it was a lovely Sunday stroll!! :) xxx bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaNice perspective Jaycee. Cricket-Tammy from Alabama, United StatesFantastic play with colors on this image! 18 May 2009 2:14pm @Cricket-Tammy: thank you!! :) grant from kansas city, United Statesjaycee, i love this - the angle is great, as is the light/shadow. i like the wrapped building. i posted a shot earlier of a hotel near that had been wrapped for renovations. i don't like it as well as this one, but you might find it interesting. i don't know if this is a common practice. i'd never seen it before. 18 May 2009 2:40pm @grant: thanks Grant!! i have seen this type of covering before and i am not 100% sure why but i think they do it if they need to work on any of the exterior surfaces of the building and it keeps debris from ricocheting into the surrounding areas. i love wrapped buildings too! do you know the artist Christo? hugo poon from hong kong, Hong KongWhat a strong compelling image of the cityscape!!! The angle, composition, lighting... and your creative treatment are just brilliant! Super work Jaycee! 18 May 2009 2:54pm @hugo poon: cheers Hugo!!! this city gives me lots of inspiration -- i just let it guide me!! :) peter from new york, United Statesit's like gotham city during the daytime. nice one mate : ) 18 May 2009 3:27pm @peter: thanks mate!! yes -- parts of this city are definitely Gotham!! :) zOOm from Paris, FranceNice angle, and great perspective to the sky... at least, we can breath ! :-) 18 May 2009 5:10pm @zOOm: yes -- a place for escape when everything else gets too heavy!! thanks Florence!! :) Magda from Vancouver, CanadaSpectacular!!! Great contrast and fantastic perspective and framing! Well done 18 May 2009 5:23pm dobbino from Cape Town, South AfricaThis actually looks like a building opening up its arms to greet one! Superb perspective. 18 May 2009 6:06pm @dobbino: thanks Rob!! and wow! i never saw like that until you mentioned it!! thank you and a very cool interpretation!! :) Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesNice little patch of blue amongst the concrete jungle. On a cloudy day, I guess you really have to photoshop the sky red or green to get some color in NYC :) 18 May 2009 6:23pm @Howard F.: LOL -- yes, so you have caught on!!! :) cheers to you!! Calusarus from St Sorlin en Valloire, FranceNice architectural shot. I could miss it inthose dark valleys of skyscrapers :) 18 May 2009 7:43pm @Leena: thanks Leena!! i am getting used to be being back in the land of skyscrapers!!! :) observing from North West, United KingdomThat box of light with a shadow therein is amazing, I have a feeling of helplessness here. 18 May 2009 9:03pm António Pires from Lisbon, PortugalThe financial district looks somber. Fortunately the sky is a lot more optimistic. 18 May 2009 9:23pm @António Pires: cheers Antonio!! and yes -- i love the contrast of those two elements!! :) Steven from Chicagoland, United StatesLove your perspective here. I didn't know what to make of the building covered in wrap as I have never seen such a large building covered like this before. It definitely makes for an interesting capture. I hope the fire escapes are not covered. ;-) 19 May 2009 2:03am @Steven: cheers Steven!! :) i think they are renovating the building so no one is in there -- a big project!! Fliss from Melbourne Beach, United StatesLove the shot... though I am sure the buildings really block out the sun... 19 May 2009 2:12am PD from Overland Park, Kansas, United StatesCool sky.
