City Skyline @ Dusk From the Harbour, SydneyPosted by dj.tigersprout (New York City, United States) on 8 May 2009 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio. across silver waters, as if in a dream, Sydney's skyline appeared to me -- quiet, solemn, eternally still; and yet the clouds danced enchantedly across the multi-hued sky -- simple, alive and free... i pinched myself, afraid to wake from this fantastical dream, but no, it was unfeigned, the vision remained: once again i found myself at peace. all work protected by Creative Commons

Ken from United StatesJaycee, Did you want to feature the clouds or the skyline in this one? Loving both, except neither one seems to be willing to take centerstage for the attention. 8 May 2009 5:03am @Ken: yo! :) hmm... good question... maybe it was just meant to be sort of dreamy...? i guess the skyline is a bit dark... so maybe just the forms of the buildings and the brighter more animated sky as a whole? i think this is more of a mood / dream still... but this sight certainly makes me happy when i see it!! :) Bill Jennings from Bay Area Northern Calif, United StatesI've seen Sydney many times - but never with this moody feeling to it : I think you're ok as it is : more for the mood, than the composational strength. The city is a tad dark... Perhaps some selective brightening there would be helpful. 8 May 2009 5:49am @Bill Jennings: thanks Bill!! i couldn't remember what my original plans were for this -- but now i am sure that the city was dark... as if sleeping. i think that is what caught my original attention... and the sky was so alive!! so the subdued city would give way to the sky -- and the interplay of the skyline would frame the fluffy clouds with harder, geometric shapes!! :) have a great weekend!!! Calusarus from St Sorlin en Valloire, FranceI really like the sky and clouds, and I disagree with Ken : the balance between the buildings and the sky is nice 8 May 2009 6:04am @Calusarus: cheers mate -- yes, now that i think about it -- the city was dark to make way for the clouds and sky... :) Mirko Herzner from GermanyYou make us take a close look first... After all your NYC shots I needed a moment to figure out that this one must be another city... Fine work and great colors. 8 May 2009 6:06am @Mirko Herzner: thanks Mirko!! yes -- trying to mix it up a bit... have so many themes to show! :) Paco Díaz from Palma de Mallorca, SpainWhat a bond from NYC to Sydney! Very good picture of this beautiful skyline, and a splendid sky! 8 May 2009 6:36am @Paco Díaz: cheers Paco! have a great weekend! @Btany: thanks Btany!!! thanks much for the visit and comment!! :) dobbino from Cape Town, South AfricaLovely shot, DJ - I actually like it the way it is. The bit of darkness adds to the interest and intrigue of the image. 8 May 2009 7:46am @dobbino: thanks Rob!! at first i couldn't remember what i was thinking as i worked on this shot (it was several months ago). but now i remember that this is the way i wanted it -- a darkened, sleeping city and a vibrant dreamy sky!! :) romine from bucharest, Romaniabeautiful, well balanced, composition. the sky is superb in particular. well done 8 May 2009 7:51am @romine: cheers Romine!!! thanks for the visit and comment!! :) MadScientist from Düsseldorf, GermanyCool skyline under a pacific sky. Jolie baie avec un doux coucher de soleil 8 May 2009 9:18am San G. from Encino, California, United StatesThe sky is dramatic and the city seems to be going to sleep. What a great vantage point you had! 8 May 2009 9:21am @San G.: thanks Sandy!! this was taken off the bow of the ferry as the city floated up to us!! but yes, the city appeared to be slumbering -- and the sky was wild!! :) vu@granby - Wolfgang from Granby, Québec, CanadaDifferent from what we normally see of Sidney, makes it interesting! 8 May 2009 12:55pm peter from new york, United Stateswow mate that sky looks like a painting! i'd love to make it out to sydney sometime : ) 8 May 2009 3:34pm @peter: cheers Peter! yes -- you do need to make it there... it is magical! Michael Rawluk from Williams Lake, BC, CanadaYou do get around. You must pile up the frequent flyer points. 8 May 2009 3:56pm @Michael Rawluk: hehe -- well, somewhat... of course i tend to spend them quickly too! :) Steven from Chicagoland, United StatesAn interesting skyline that you have captured here. The skyline seems to get taller the further right you go 8 May 2009 4:21pm @Steven: cheers Steven and yes -- i took this shot and framed it so that only part of the skyline made it into the photo... the skyline is like a half dome... so it continues up until it hits an 'apex' and then curves down again... this is only really less than half of sydney's beautiful skyline... :) Marion from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaBeautiful skyline. beautiful clouds.
