City Skyline @ Dusk From the Harbour, Sydney

across silver waters, as if in a dream, Sydney's skyline appeared to me -- quiet, solemn, eternally still; and yet the clouds danced enchantedly across the multi-hued sky -- simple, alive and free... i pinched myself, afraid to wake from this fantastical dream, but no, it was unfeigned, the vision remained: once again i found myself at peace.

Jaycee, Did you want to feature the clouds or the skyline in this one? Loving both, except neither one seems to be willing to take centerstage for the attention.

@Ken: yo! :) hmm... good question... maybe it was just meant to be sort of dreamy...? i guess the skyline is a bit dark... so maybe just the forms of the buildings and the brighter more animated sky as a whole? i think this is more of a mood / dream still... but this sight certainly makes me happy when i see it!! :)

I've seen Sydney many times - but never with this moody feeling to it : I think you're ok as it is : more for the mood, than the composational strength. The city is a tad dark... Perhaps some selective brightening there would be helpful.

@Bill Jennings: thanks Bill!! i couldn't remember what my original plans were for this -- but now i am sure that the city was dark... as if sleeping. i think that is what caught my original attention... and the sky was so alive!! so the subdued city would give way to the sky -- and the interplay of the skyline would frame the fluffy clouds with harder, geometric shapes!! :) have a great weekend!!!

Lovely shot, DJ - I actually like it the way it is. The bit of darkness adds to the interest and intrigue of the image.

@dobbino: thanks Rob!! at first i couldn't remember what i was thinking as i worked on this shot (it was several months ago). but now i remember that this is the way i wanted it -- a darkened, sleeping city and a vibrant dreamy sky!! :)

@Steven: cheers Steven and yes -- i took this shot and framed it so that only part of the skyline made it into the photo... the skyline is like a half dome... so it continues up until it hits an 'apex' and then curves down again... this is only really less than half of sydney's beautiful skyline... :)
