@Yvonne S.: Cheers Yvonne!! :) Mirko Herzner from GermanyHej DJ. What a great landscape picture with so much details and colors to explore... 14 Oct 2008 5:12am @Mirko Herzner: Mirko!! :) Great to hear from you! Best of luck transitioning with the job -- i know that can be a huge deal, so i hear you on the lack of time issue!! No worries! Just wanted to check in and see if everything was ok! Glad to know that it is!! Cheers to you mate!! Marion from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaLooks like a post card DJ. Love those ripples and reflections. As usual a great photo. 14 Oct 2008 5:22am @Marion: Thanks Marion!! Cheers! RHYS from LONDON, United Kingdomone of photography's virtues is that it has the ability to 'take you there'. This is where I wish I was now. A grand shot. 14 Oct 2008 5:31am @RHYS: Thanks kindly Rhys!!! The open wilderness of Alaska beckons you!!! ;) Cheers! Kylie Greenan from Richmond, Australiahey DJ.. you posted a b&w of this from memory didn't you? I LOVE the colours here, you are doing a fantastic job with the processing, this is so picturesque, I love those ripples.. and from memory it was from you throwing a stone in the water. Great effect! 14 Oct 2008 5:50am @Kylie Greenan: thanks Kylie!! i think i am back to color for a good while! i forgot how much i love color!! i was getting into b/w though -- i have to admit... but i will come back to it again! ;) oh -- and yes, i love tossing stones into lakes -- to make ripples!!! jamesy from christchurch, New ZealandHave been back in time to remind myself of the B&W version I think I like the colour better. Makes the place feel much warmer and lets face it these colours were meant to be SEEN!!!! Gorgeous 14 Oct 2008 5:54am @jamesy: Thanks heaps Deb!! With yesterday's i like the b/w better -- something abut the colors feeling funny, sort of murky and unclear -- and not as vibrant as i like... but i definitely agree w/ you here -- this color version is much more striking than the original b/w i posted of this -- and the greens and blues jump of the page as i like my colors to do!! Cheers for you feedback as always!! Kind thanks!! Kingfish from Menlo Park, United StatesI really like how the sky and water embrace the tree line. The ripples give a nice sense of motion/life that makes me wonder if it was caused by a fish or by man. The way they break up the reflection of the trees is magnificent. 14 Oct 2008 5:58am @Kingfish: Cheers Morgan! Glad to see you on Am3! :D oh -- and the ripples, i threw a nice round stone in to get the effect! ;) the 'kerplunk' sound it made was simply divine! Monique from Koh Samui, ThailandGreat landscape, it looks so refreshing I feel like taking a big breath of air! Great composition and I like the water ripples! 14 Oct 2008 6:25am @Monique: Thanks Monique -- it was wonderfully fresh, so nice and so different to being in the city!! :) Margie from Auckland, New ZealandBeautiful shot, fantastic composition, vivid colour...plus ripples! Fabulous! 14 Oct 2008 7:19am Vink from Grasse - French riviera, FranceBeautiful and calm lake ! Fantastic place ! 14 Oct 2008 7:31am Elaine- from Canadaoh wow, just stunning!! the blue and green are like eye candy, or regular candy even lol yummy shot!! :) 14 Oct 2008 7:34am Maramy from Aberdeenshire, United Kingdombeautiful scene - love the ripples and reflections. 14 Oct 2008 8:09am Linerberry from Sumner, Christchurch, New ZealandI thought there was familiarity about this image:-) I too do prefer the bright colours of this image but then you can't beat a great B&W too.....so I'm torn in this debate with myself! Brilliant image....love those ripples:-)) 14 Oct 2008 8:11am @Linerberry: Hehe -- Thanks Liners! Don't beat yourself up -- i am split between the two too!! :) i love the b/w for the eternal mood -- but i love this version for the color! nice and bold! :D @António Pires: Cheers Antonio!! :) @MadScientist: Cheers mate!! :) MaryP from Aberdeenshire, United KingdomAgree with jamesy, gorgeous in colour. It has 'life'. (Funny how some shots are just not meant to be in B/W and vice versa.) 14 Oct 2008 9:33am @MaryP: Thanks Mary! Yes -- certain shots do deserve color!! I think when i originally posted this in b/w i was having fun learning the basics in photoshop and the one thing i was very keen to do was convert shots to b/w. So this was one of my first 'victims'!!! But of course when i went back the other day to repost this color shot -- i realized how bright and vivid the color was in comparison -- and of course was instantly sold!! Color is my main preference -- but i just had to muck around a bit to see what was on the other side of the fence! ;) Cheers to you! Thanks for the continual feedback! Very much appreciated! @Lorraine: Thanks heaps Lorraine!! :) MaryB from Staffordshire, United KingdomI thought I was going mad, until I realised that you'd posted this in b&w before lol :D 14 Oct 2008 10:14am @MaryB: Thanks Mary!!! As i originally processed this pic and immediately converted to b/w i never really got the chance to enjoy it in color -- and i was hell bent to use the new CS3 b/w converter -- i was obsessed!!! :D so when i re-converted this back to color and then made the slight adjustments i quickly realized how wonderful the color version was!! but i too loved it in b/w -- for different reasons... a completely different mood! Cheers to you!! grouser from Ludlow, United KingdomHey DJ this would have been a perfect opportunity for that montage. Looks lovely in colour. 14 Oct 2008 11:13am Mary from Richfield, United StatesBeautiful as always DJ !! Love those ripples in the water. Gives me such a feeling of calmness. 14 Oct 2008 11:18am dobbino from Cape Town, South AfricaHi DJ - this time I much prefer the colour version - they are just so vibrant and alive! 14 Oct 2008 12:12pm @dobbino: Yes i agree too! I think i am back to color now -- but not forever!! :D Jeffster from Long Island, United StatesBeautiful blue sky & reflection. Is this where the salmon swim upstream? 14 Oct 2008 12:41pm Stephen Phillips from San Francisco, United StatesI love both of the approaches you gave this image. What a beautiful location. 14 Oct 2008 2:13pm @Stephen Phillips: Cheers Stephen! I like them both too -- but i did forget how much i like color -- just for a second!! :) Wolfgang - vu@granby from Granby, Québec, CanadaLove it, the ripples make this one for me! 14 Oct 2008 2:47pm willow from Chelsea, United StatesMaking waves again, huh? I love the colors and the ripples and the treeline.... I think I like it better than the B&W version, but that could just be because I'm obsessed with color right now. 14 Oct 2008 4:01pm @willow: thanks Willow!! and i don't blame you -- i have always been smitten w/ color -- and still am! just had to take a bit of a b/w break to expand my boundaries again -- but when i look at this bright blue and green, it gets me excited!!! :D Evelyne Dubos from Le Mans, FranceI'm really happy to see this one in color, it's a lovely one and for me it's better than B&W. Ripples in water and reflects make a strong composition and vivid contrasted colors magnify it. 14 Oct 2008 4:45pm @Evelyne Dubos: Thanks kindly Evelyne -- and i agree!! :) When i went back to look at the color version of this, i had forgotten how vivid the colors were and how much they added to the picture! Cheers to you and thanks as always for the wonderful feedback!! :) Eric Rousset from Grasse, FranceMagic ripples, like it on the reflections.Super m8 !! 14 Oct 2008 6:26pm Francesc B. from région parisienne, FranceVery beautiful landscape... nice reflections, and I like these ripples. 14 Oct 2008 7:23pm zOOm from Paris, FranceTypical canadian landscape with those wonderful pine forests ! With you, I discover countries I've never been to... and I like what I see... 14 Oct 2008 7:35pm @zOOm: Thanks kindly Florence!! I do like to move about the globe -- my day job sitting stationary in a cubicle all day makes me want to pull out my hair -- every chance i get i pack my bags and leave the country -- just so i can see the world and rejoice in different spaces! ;) Graham Russon from Cape Town, South AfricaFantastic shot, and very peaceful without the ripples. I know you just had to throw a stone in, I would have :) 14 Oct 2008 7:44pm @Graham Russon: Thanks mate -- and yes -- it was simply irresistible!!! ;) Alun Lambert from cheshire, United Kingdomcracking shot dj, the ripples make the shot 14 Oct 2008 10:43pm @Alun Lambert: Cheers Alun!!! :) baobab from Cambridge, United Statesgreat image dj - I really like the ripples and reflections. 14 Oct 2008 10:44pm KZC from Sydney, AustraliaWhat an amazing shot with the ripples on the water and the trees framing the back. I suddenly miss my childhood in the province :) 15 Oct 2008 10:41am dobbino from Cape Town, South AfricaHey DJ - looking at my comment above, what I meant to say was this is just so vibrant and alive. Having now delved into the BW stuff, I must say both treatments have their places, and I love both. For me, this particular image looks better in colour. 15 Oct 2008 11:29am @dobbino: Cheers mate -- and that is how i understood your original comment too! :) But thank you kindly for the clarification!!! :D Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesBeautiful ripples and beautiful landscape.
