A Walk in the Woods, Outer Fairbanks, AlaskaPosted by dj.tigersprout (New York City, United States) on 22 September 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. hello everyone! :D ok, truth be told, i am finally back again, but just barely! ;) my computer is properly set up and seems to be working just fine -- had no problems with set up or data transfer and i have been getting to know it well over the last few days. however my dreams of having a completed CS3 post production image for you today didn't quite work out as planned. (!) i have read quite a few of the written tutorials and watched a good number of accompanying video tips but at this point i still have a TON of things to learn!! and it's going to be somewhat of a slow process at first as i try to integrate the nightly lessons and 'experiments' -- so bear with me! (and give me tips if you can!!) ;) picking back up again with my Alaska series, i am going to begin with shots of Fairbanks as i haven't shown any thus far from either my fall trip, nor my winter 2007 trip. at some point i will switch back and show more of the shots from my wonderful 2 day stay in Anaktuvuk. in total, i spent about 2 whole days in Fairbanks -- the time split between 'lay-overs' up to and back from the Arctic Circle. the day before i headed back home, i spent an entire day in the Fairbank's vicinity just meandering around and enjoying the edges of rural 'wilderness' and the wonderful fields / meadows / parklands located within this central Alaskan town's outskirts. Fairbanks was quite warm, a sunny 68F degrees most of the time, the lows being in the high 30's overnight. the daylight began about 5:45AM and stretched til just about midnight before becoming completely dark. the light during the mornings and afternoons was very soft and wonderfully clear -- making the the colors of the flora and fauna, just beautiful! there seemed to be such natural blue skies -- such a comparison to the mostly gray and gloomy winter skies that i had experienced only 9 months before. and the color schemes of the surrounding areas were of bright and dark greens and brilliant yellows -- very little orange or red -- a complete and quite shocking difference to the fiery colors of the Arctic Circle. here is a shot from one of my guided strolls through the edge of the 'bush'... the light filtered down magically through the trees as we hiked through well kept trails of a wilderness bird watching preserve. it was gloriously refreshing! all work protected by Creative Commons
