One Egg & One Spoon

for today's photo i have been invited by Isao to play a little game. :D the only rules of the game are that the work should be titled 'one egg & one spoon', and the resulting image must somehow convey that title (either literally or figuratively)... of course all methods of photoshop post production are fine. i don't have photoshop (yet) but i have done my best w/ picassa 2! oh yeah -- and it must be posted today!

What an absolutely brilliant idea, well done DJ, this is a very different image for you portfolio and I absolutely love it, I couldn't tell what it was from the thumbnails, now it all makes sense. @Kylie Greenan: Thanks so much Kylie! It was very cool to have an 'assignment'... it made me nervous at first as it wasn't the way i was used to working -- but it was also enlightening and forced me to use my equipment in a different kind of way -- just awesome! I hope you intend to 'play' along on the 10th? Blue feet! What fun and an interesting challenge that will be!! :D

j'aime beaucoup ! De prime abord on croit à une image abstraite, puis on trouve les formes du défi : l'oeuf et la cuillère mais seulement comme des morceaux de puzzle... ensuite le support fait "imaginer" :des éclaboussures dans l'eau ? une peau de bête ? une peluche ?! Le traitement renforce les interrogations... C'est étrange et ça oblige à rentrer dans l'image, vraiment bien trouvé et trés original, Bravo DJ !
I love ! At first glance it is believed to abstract image, and then there are the forms of challenge: the egg and spoon, but only as pieces of the puzzle ... then the support is "imagine": splashing in the water? skin of a beast? a stuffed? The treatment strengthens the questions ... It is strange and it requires to enter into the picture, really well and found very original, Bravo DJ !

@bm: Thanks BM! It was a fun theme -- and it helped me to expand my boundaries -- which is always a great thing!! i was a bit anxious at first -- but i am very happy with the turnout and the experience!! :)

It looks like a massive moon shining onto a very still lake with some bushes around it. What an awesome idea & the tones are brilliant.

neat shot. i had no idea what it was until i saw the title and even then i had to look for a couple seconds. is that fur or something the egg and spoon are resting on?
one can do a lot with picasa 2! that's what i started out with, and i still use it in conjunction with photoshop.

@danthro: Thanks mate! Yes, actually i have 'bear' hat that is all furry and even has ears... i threw it down as a texture underneath the egg and spoon to spice things up a bit -- all very whimsical really! ;) and yes -- i am very used to using Picassa... but there are so many other things that i will be able to do w/ photoshop -- all sorts of cutting and pasting, smoothing out grain, toning down over slight exposure -- cloning out pieces of garbage or strange anomalies... montages!!! can't wait!! :D

I looked at this earlier and didn't quite know how to comment on it... It is dark, beautiful and somehow wholesome seeming and very natural but deeply abstract. I feel like I have entered a world where I am minuscule and everything around me is just texture and contrast. I am overwhelmed by this shot in a way.

I am a day late! Well...I must say I am so impressed with you work already, but this is truly fantastic! Rich in detail and tones, and a journey within. Well done and bravo to you!
I agree, it's great to have an 'assignment' as I feel it does get the creative juices flowing. I used to play a kind of game with myself...close my eyes, thumb through the dictionary randomly and point to a word. It was always a surprise to see what would come up, and of course image interpretations.
