One Egg & One SpoonPosted by dj.tigersprout (New York City, United States) on 27 August 2008 in Abstract & Conceptual and Portfolio. for today's photo i have been invited by Isao to play a little game. :D the only rules of the game are that the work should be titled 'one egg & one spoon', and the resulting image must somehow convey that title (either literally or figuratively)... of course all methods of photoshop post production are fine. i don't have photoshop (yet) but i have done my best w/ picassa 2! oh yeah -- and it must be posted today! please click here to see Isao's related image: Isao's Photoblog hope you enjoy!! :) all work protected by Creative Commons

Kylie Greenan from Richmond, AustraliaWhat an absolutely brilliant idea, well done DJ, this is a very different image for you portfolio and I absolutely love it, I couldn't tell what it was from the thumbnails, now it all makes sense. I am amazed how you have made an egg and a spoon look incredibly sexy! Well done my friend, looking forward to your feet in blue! :o). 27 Aug 2008 5:11am @Kylie Greenan: Thanks so much Kylie! It was very cool to have an 'assignment'... it made me nervous at first as it wasn't the way i was used to working -- but it was also enlightening and forced me to use my equipment in a different kind of way -- just awesome! I hope you intend to 'play' along on the 10th? Blue feet! What fun and an interesting challenge that will be!! :D Laurent from Lyon, Francevery nice effect. 27 Aug 2008 5:15am Marion from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaReally well done DJ. It looks like they are nestled in a fur coat and I agree with Laurent, the egg does look like a moon. 27 Aug 2008 5:29am Paco Díaz from Palma de Mallorca, SpainYou say that you haven¡t PShop? So, it's really a great composition and edition. I like very much the way this b/w creates movement and impacts the eye. Congratulations. 27 Aug 2008 5:45am saeed from ahwaz, Irangreat idea! what a beautiful B/W! Thanks for your useful title!!! ;) 27 Aug 2008 6:27am dan from FranceYes! In NB ! 27 Aug 2008 7:39am Linerberry from Sumner, Christchurch, New ZealandYou guys are crazy! in a lovely way of course:-) A very sultry egg and spoon moment...marvelous shot dj, loving it!!! 27 Aug 2008 8:02am Isao from isère, Francej'aime beaucoup ! I love ! At first glance it is believed to abstract image, and then there are the forms of challenge: the egg and spoon, but only as pieces of the puzzle ... then the support is "imagine": splashing in the water? skin of a beast? a stuffed? The treatment strengthens the questions ... It is strange and it requires to enter into the picture, really well and found very original, Bravo DJ ! 27 Aug 2008 8:06am @Isao: Merci a toi, Isao!! I had so much fun and it helped to stretch my boundaries!! I never really do 'still life' shots -- so this was an excellent experience! Looking forward to the 10th with anticipation! It was a fun theme -- and it helped me to expand my boundaries -- which is always a great thing!! i was a bit anxious at first -- but i am very happy with the turnout and the experience!! :) Thomas Griffioen from Rotterdam, NetherlandsCool idea and a very cool abstract! 27 Aug 2008 12:42pm Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomDj, both images fit the brief, and both are different. Yours is very mysterious, and complicated. I like that. 27 Aug 2008 12:46pm Mala from Newcastle- upon- Tyne, United KingdomIt looks like a massive moon shining onto a very still lake with some bushes around it. What an awesome idea & the tones are brilliant. 27 Aug 2008 12:47pm @Mala: Thanks Mala! When i took the photograph i didn't have that in mind... however, now that it has been posted and you have mentioned it -- it is all i see! :) Thanks for the wonderful interpretive vision! gbe from kansas city, United Statesone egg, one spoon, and ...one cat? i like it. 27 Aug 2008 1:12pm Francesc B. from région parisienne, FranceAfter the "Mother's Day"... today is the "Egg's Day"... :)) 27 Aug 2008 1:13pm shoti from Everywhere in the, Philippinesvery interesting photo! didn't noticed that it was an egg and a spoon before reading the description.. nice contrast and texture used:D 27 Aug 2008 1:25pm António Pires from Lisbon, PortugalWhat an imagination and what a capacity of creating images. 27 Aug 2008 1:35pm Calusarus from St Sorlin en Valloire, FranceNice dark shadwos for this challenge post… 27 Aug 2008 2:20pm MadScientist from Düsseldorf, GermanyAn intimate and almost sensual scene, I like that! 27 Aug 2008 2:32pm Graham Russon from Cape Town, South AfricaMarvelous shot, and well done for the challenge. 27 Aug 2008 3:34pm Ana Lúcia from Leiria, PortugalCretive... abstract... Yeuse from Strasbourg/Paris, FranceStrange image, almost abstract :) I love the B&W, well contrasted. (Thanks for your comments on my photoblog ;)) 27 Aug 2008 6:57pm jamesy from christchurch, New ZealandCool very different from the other egg and spoon on my blog watch 27 Aug 2008 7:51pm dominik from Paris, FranceOn imagine une planète OVNI qui atterrit sur sa piste d'atterrissage dans une forêt la nuit... Splendid N&B... 27 Aug 2008 8:10pm Stéphane from Bruxelles, BelgiumBeautiful compo and B&W. 27 Aug 2008 8:34pm danthro from Suburbia, United Statesneat shot. i had no idea what it was until i saw the title and even then i had to look for a couple seconds. is that fur or something the egg and spoon are resting on? 27 Aug 2008 10:57pm @danthro: Thanks mate! Yes, actually i have 'bear' hat that is all furry and even has ears... i threw it down as a texture underneath the egg and spoon to spice things up a bit -- all very whimsical really! ;) and yes -- i am very used to using Picassa... but there are so many other things that i will be able to do w/ photoshop -- all sorts of cutting and pasting, smoothing out grain, toning down over slight exposure -- cloning out pieces of garbage or strange anomalies... montages!!! can't wait!! :D willow from Chelsea, United Statesfun game! Very intersting result you have here - very abstract. Nicely seen (and processed). 27 Aug 2008 11:55pm akarui from Kagoshima, JapanGreat work with the light for this abstract picture. It is amazing to see your result considering the theme spoon and egg... 28 Aug 2008 12:14am Jeffster from Long Island, United StatesWow...great abstract. If you didn't say egg & spoon, I would have never figured out what I was looking at! 28 Aug 2008 2:53am DarkElf from Perth, Australiathis is something different from you indeed! very cool almost abstract photo... great play of light and shadow - at first glance before reading the title and your description i thought the white globe was the moon - i have to say this is a great play on the imagination! 28 Aug 2008 3:39am Terre Mavix Chartrand from Kitchener, CanadaI looked at this earlier and didn't quite know how to comment on it... It is dark, beautiful and somehow wholesome seeming and very natural but deeply abstract. I feel like I have entered a world where I am minuscule and everything around me is just texture and contrast. I am overwhelmed by this shot in a way. 28 Aug 2008 5:03am bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaI am a day late! Well...I must say I am so impressed with you work already, but this is truly fantastic! Rich in detail and tones, and a journey within. Well done and bravo to you! 28 Aug 2008 8:27pm @bluechameleon: Thanks BC! This is really the first time i have worked in this manner -- and with so much heavy black! ;) It means a lot to hear you say you like the result! :D Thanks for the idea about games to play with the dictionary as a starting reference -- i will try that out in the future too! Thanks as always for you kind and inspiring support! Luis A. De Jesus R. from Mexico City, MexicoMan, I'm trying to figure out what you got going here, but I like it muuuuchooo. The lighting and texture work great in the BW. 31 Aug 2008 1:02am Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesI was wondering what MS was up to with his egg in the boat shot. 1 Sep 2008 3:48am Pied Crow from Nairobi, KenyaSimple ingredients and a great result, just like cooking! 1 Sep 2008 5:14pm jean-sebastien from St-joseph du lac, CanadaThis is just fabulous !
