Sci-Fi Landscape, Wadi Rum, JordanPosted by dj.tigersprout (New York City, United States) on 19 August 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. here is a much warmer desert shot, for those of you that requested some warmer images after my sub-freezing Alaska series!! ;) this is internationally acclaimed Wadi Rum desert, located in southern Jordan, about 1.5 hours north of the Red Sea... everything in this desert is a rich red, yellow or orange... and sometimes all three at once! it was simply an amazingly warm and color saturated experience -- a stark contrast to the freezing icy white and blue desert of the Arctic just three months previous! if you get the chance, put Wadi Rum on your list! it is a must see -- just spectacular, and on par with the Grand Canyon or Bryce Canyons... but of course totally exotic and completely different!

De Jesus R. from Mexico City, MexicoWadi Rum, never had an idea it existed but wow!! You captured it so beautifully and the post processing is suited. You sure do get to see rare spots of our world. May I ask what is it you do that takes you to these remote places? 19 Aug 2008 7:38pm @Luis A. De Jesus R.: Hey Luis! Thanks for the comment! To answer your question, my current work unfortunately does not take me to these amazing places. :( But i either read about these places in magazines, hear second hand accounts of these places from traveling friends and acquaintances, mistakenly stumble upon these places on my own accord... and then my favorite method: just randomly deciding to visit a certain isolated part of the globe! (such as the arctic in winter) so most of the decision making is quite whimsical... and then i set out to see what unfolds! i am extremely intrigued with all the different majestic locales this planet offers -- and the further away from home and the more exotic the location -- the more excited i am to go there and explore! i usually know i have a winning location when all my American friends give me weird looks and tell me i am crazy!! that usually solidifies the idea immediately! :D Graham Russon from Cape Town, South AfricaStunning shot, sci-fi landscape sums it up. This could be shot from the rovers on Mars. Nice work. 19 Aug 2008 8:36pm Richard_Irwin from Belper, United KingdomVery surreal, like a scene from StarWars. I think you are going to keep me on my toes for now. Still, you have a bit of a narrative which will be wonderful to tune into, no matter the subject. As for this place, it is beautiful. It looks warm and even inviting (if that can be possible). You see, the opposite of cold for me would be how I would feel here. Beautiful, comfortable, embracing and soft. :) 20 Aug 2008 3:27am Francesc B. from région parisienne, FranceHot colors... a beautiful pic of the planet Mars... I hope that your travel was not too painful... :)) 20 Aug 2008 6:23pm sandrine from cincinnati, United StatesBreathtaking!
