Andrew Gould from Sydney, AustraliaBeautiful colours and great use of perspective here. 2 Jun 2008 3:42am @Andrew Gould: Thanks for all the comments mate -- really appreciate it! Glad you like this too... Sometimes i see these compositions and i just take the shot... have no idea what drives me sometimes... It's instinctual! :) @Lilo: Cheers mate! fcofont from Valencia, SpainThis is a classic! :-) Great composition and beautiful colours too. I like those greens and reds. 24 Jul 2008 6:08am @fcofont: Thanks kindly Francisco! Always a pleasure to hear from you and read your comments! :) @Joy: Hello and thanks Joy! :) @Dhini: Thanks Dhini! :) Cheers! Michael Skorulski from Cigel, Hong KongI like old fences especially the kind that is gradually being reclaimed by nature. The perspective is wonderful here and the colors deep and rich. The DOF is excellent. 24 Jul 2008 6:37am @Michael Skorulski: Thanks Michael! This is one of the rare times i get close to my subject as i tend to heavily prefer wide, sweeping landscape shots... but i do enjoy the 'vastness' of this close up photo too -- so i think i should spend more time within the world of smaller things! :) Mirko Herzner from Mühlheim am Main, GermanyWhat an interesting perspective here, DJ. Why did you chose it? Did you like the fence (which I could understand) or was there nothing of interest behind it? :-) 24 Jul 2008 6:37am @Mirko Herzner: Howdy Mirko! :) This is one of those pics that i remember taking -- but don't remember thinking about... it just happened -- i saw something -- it 'clicked', and then i clicked the shutter. I was completely on automatic... (i had been shooting for about an hour and was feeling very warmed up!) it was wonderful! :) Thanks! Namaki from Bordeaux, FranceI am back from a trip where I didn't have access to internet ... which is a good thing from time to time ! And this is a nice perspective indeed... I like the contrast between the green and the red , two complementary colours ! 24 Jul 2008 7:03am @Namaki: Thanks Namaki -- welcome back and great to hear from you! :) linerberry from New ZealandJust stunning. Great perspective, fab colours, great lighting. Do you think there might be a secret garden behind it, it has that magical feel about it. 24 Jul 2008 8:19am @linerberry: Thanks Linerberry! Yes -- this is even better than a secret garden (although i love secret gardens!), this is a secret forest! :) Monique from Koh Samui, ThailandI like the PoV and depth in this picture, good compo! For my taste a bit too much contrast, but different tastes make the world more colourful :) 24 Jul 2008 8:19am @Monique: Thanks for the comment and honest feedback Monique! :) I am still very new at this and am very happy to hear opinions as i can then take all of it into account for later! Would you say the light or the color was too dark and heavy then? What would you have done in my place? Thank you in advance for your time and critique! Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaLovely country feel, I can smell the moist earth :) 24 Jul 2008 8:29am @Lorraine: Thanks Lorraine -- it was very rainy that day -- and the sky was dark and the ground was quite wet! :) It was a wonderful fresh smell! :) @shahab: Thanks Shahab!! :) grouser from Ludlow, United KingdomAha back in a tree filled landscape again. Yes like Lorraine I smell the damp earthyness of this pic. I'm puzzled by the blotches on the top rail though. I assume they are highlights from the sun coming through the leaves but they have an odd kind of uniformity. 24 Jul 2008 9:45am @grouser: Thanks Grouser! Yes -- i do prefer trees to speak completely honestly. ;) The dots you can see are different molds and or Lichens that live and grow on decaying wood -- or wood that is often moist. :) In this case -- a bit of both! @saman: Hello and thanks for the comments Saman! Very appreciated! :) Eric Fry from Houston, TX, United StatesI love these rich, deep colors, DJ, and the way it leads off to the left (for some reason everything I do like this seems to go to the right...?). Beautiful photo! 24 Jul 2008 11:11am @Eric Fry: Thanks Eric! Hehe -- are you left handed by chance? I have noticed that most of my shots have a right hand dominance... so you are the opposite? Very interesting! :) @yiannis krikis: Cheers Yiannis! Loved your shot today -- very different for you -- but beautiful all the same! Bravo! hugo poon from hong kong, Hong KongIntriguing and thought provoking... wonderful capture DJ!! 24 Jul 2008 1:18pm @hugo poon: Thanks Hugo! Yes -- not my usual vein of photography -- although i do like it... might have to work like this more often! (too bad about the 1600 ISO though...) :( willow from Chelsea, United StatesDeep, rich colors. Very calming photo. Thanks for this little bit of tranquility. 24 Jul 2008 1:44pm @willow: Thanks Willow! A very happy Thursday to you! :) @Saeed: Cheers Saeed -- thank you! @Thomas Griffioen: Thanks Thomas!! @gbe: Thanks Grant! I love the solidity of this one -- reminds me of your style of photographs... darker and heavier! ;) Michael Rawluk from Prince George, CanadaThe depth of the the colours is beautiful. It must have been a dark day with that shutter speed and f stop. 24 Jul 2008 2:49pm @Michael Rawluk: Yes -- it was raining quite a bit, although the canopy blocked a lot of the water from falling onto us -- however i just realized that i had the ISO on 1600!! Yikes! Oh well -- so much for enlarging this one! :( @crystal: Hello and thanks Crystal! :) Paco Díaz from Palma de Mallorca, SpainBright and warm colors for a strong composition. I like the depth that the diagonal creates. 24 Jul 2008 4:21pm @Paco Díaz: Cheers Paco! :) Ina from Krugersdorp, South AfricaGreat shot! I like the vivid colors and the angle is great, well done :) 24 Jul 2008 6:42pm @Ina: Hello and thank you for the comment Ina! :) kerfendal from Paris, Francereally nice harmony of colours, very good composition, could be a first class poster 24 Jul 2008 6:47pm @kerfendal: Thanks mate! :) I would love to enlarge this -- but i just realized this morning that i shot this on 1600 ISO (ouch!) oh well -- i have learned my lesson! :) @Alun Lambert: Thanks heaps Alun! :) Graham Russon from Cape Town, South AfricaThe colours are fantastic, as is the perspective. Good work. 24 Jul 2008 7:19pm @Graham Russon: Thanks Graham! I quite like these darker tones too -- not sure how i will get more of these... unless i shoot in lower light? Gotta work on that! Cheers mate! Stephen Phillips from San Francisco, United StatesDJ - such a rich and beautifully composed capture of our national treasure. Well done. 24 Jul 2008 7:55pm @Stephen Phillips: Thanks Stephen! I need to go back -- so many great photo opps there! :) bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaBeautiful the way the landscape sweeps at a diagonal across the frame. The rich colours and textures of the earth, moss and natural fence draw you right in so much so that I swear I can smell the moisture of the ground. Lush. 24 Jul 2008 8:13pm @bluechameleon: Thanks BC! I always love your descriptive comments! :) There was so much moisture in the air and the ground was very wet -- very refreshing indeed! The moss and lichen and grasses and clover bunches were all very happy to just 'be' -- as most certainly was I! Steven from Chicagoland, United StatesA familiar scene from one I saw back in April. Only this one is much more lush. The contrasts in colors is great and the spots on the wood look like they're "whitened" knots in the wood. 24 Jul 2008 8:35pm @Steven: Thanks Steven! Yes -- there was another shot from the same trip -- but further up the road and the mountain towards the falls! (great memory!) It wasn't raining as hard at this point -- i actually thought it might clear... boy was i wrong! :) @Ekaputra Tupamahu: Thanks Ekaputra! Cheers! :) @Monique: Thanks Monique! Great to hear from you! :) @rasCAL_LITTLE: Thanks mate! :) Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomNice perspective dj, I reckon that is a damp overgrown part. You have to see it to take it ;) 25 Jul 2008 12:21am @Observing: G'day Mike (good evening is probably much more apropos) and thanks! Yes -- i think this was one of those 'had to be there' moments! But i was fascinated with the lichen and moss growing on the fence rail... the rest just fell together nicely! :) Fliss from Melbourne Beach, United StatesWhat a great shot... this is one place I want to go to... it looks so refreshing... 25 Jul 2008 2:07am @Fliss: Hello and thanks Fliss! :) It is a beautiful place! This day was stormy so everything was wet and grey -- but it made for nice deep tones! :) DarkElf from Perth, Australiawhoa! some great colours and textures! this shows that if one has as good an eye as you, even basic and simple things can become very interesting! 25 Jul 2008 2:51am @DarkElf: cheers mate! thank you kindly! :) i do admit i like certain things: details or colors or shapes... these things just appear to me 'i can't explain them'... and then the need is there and i simply have to take the shot! it is as close to automatic as i get. :) thanks again -- you comments and feedback are always a pleasure to read! cheers. Querques from Palleja, SpainIt's a wondeful image, plenty of colour. I like especially the perspective, with this fence crossing the picture from side to side. High saturation! Brilliant 25 Jul 2008 4:37am @Querques: Thank you mate -- thank you kindly!! :) Laurent from Lyon, Francethe light and the colors are just wonderful on this one. Also well composed with this diagonal. 25 Jul 2008 4:51am @Laurent: Thanks Laurent! :) You must be up quite early! I have yet to go to bed... :) Hope your day is good! @lissa: Thanks Lissa! :) Sandrine from Cincinnati, United StatesLove this! Great colors and composition. 27 Jul 2008 12:09am @Sandrine: Hello & thanks for the comment Sandrine! :) Carlos Palma from San Juan, Philippineswow dj, so many comments already. i dunno what else to add. i guess the number of compliments is in itself a statement to how great you are. wish id have as much comments and words of praise as you do. good job! 28 Jul 2008 1:25pm @Carlos Palma: thank you kindly Carlos! don't worry, it certainly takes a good amount of time to meet people on this site. keep up the great postings and regularly visit other blogs -- the attention will certainly come your way! best wishes and thanks for the pleasant comment! :) @Scotfot: Thanks Scot! :) Cheers mate! @sunder iyer: Thank you kindly!
