View from Land's End, Stykkisholmur, IcelandPosted by dj.tigersprout (New York City, United States) on 23 July 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. 3 hours drive north of Reykjavik lies the sleepy and beautiful fishing town of Stykkisholmur. We spent a wonderful night here in a very cozy and quaint hostel and did a bit of touring, museum hopping and sea kayaking during the daylight hours. Of course my camera was never far out of reach. This shot was taken on the top of a large bluff that overlooked the Northern Atlantic Ocean and a small chain of nearby islands that had been designated as a bird sanctuary. all work protected by Creative Commons

Stephen Phillips from San Francisco, United StatesBeautiful, DJ. The sky is really spectacular to the grasses below. Very nice. 23 Jul 2008 5:32am @Stephen Phillips: Thanks Stephen! It was so centering and peaceful -- the light wind, the slow and easy lifestyle (although Icelanders do work very hard)... everything was simple and easy... i wish i could have stayed! saeed from ahwaz, Iranlovely landscape! i like the colours here! nicely composed indeed! that sky is great! so interesting shot! well done 23 Jul 2008 6:00am @saeed: Thanks Saeed! Excellent composition, I love the brilliant gold of the shrub and the tones of blue. 23 Jul 2008 6:25am @linerberry: Thanks Linerberry! You really need to go! Very far for you, true -- but simply worth it! :) zOOm from Paris, FranceGreat point of view... 23 Jul 2008 6:27am @zOOm: Thanks Florence! Yes -- the colors in Iceland were quite stark and bold! Beautiful complimentary hues! :) @Kent: Hello Kent! Thanks for the comment! :) Mirko Herzner from Mühlheim am Main, GermanyReally nice shot with stunning colors! This is how I imagine my holiday location to be this year ... maybe a little greener ;-) Eight weeks to go, though! 23 Jul 2008 6:56am @Mirko Herzner: Thanks Mirko! I hope the weeks fall away quickly for you! Can't wait to see the pics! :) Vink from French riviera - Grasse, FranceNice tonality and beautiful perspective ! This country seems to be fantastic ! 23 Jul 2008 7:06am @Vink: Thanks Laurent! This place is truly spectacular! I only got to view 30% of Iceland... so there is definitely going to be at least another trip!!! :) @Dhini: Thanks Dhini! :) Ekaputra Tupamahu from Malang, Indonesiafantastic shot of landscape. It looks so peaceful. Thanks for posting this! 23 Jul 2008 7:30am @Ekaputra Tupamahu: No worries Ekaputra! And the more i travel the more i realize that -- even though i think most of realize that already somewhere deep inside... Still the more i travel and take pictures, i have my own proof: the world is beautiful! I just hope we don't end up destroying it... what a loss that would be! :( @Hooman: Thanks Mehdi!! :) @gbe: Thanks Grant! I loved this town -- and Iceland in general! :) @Daniel: Thanks Daniel! Very true -- much of Iceland is quite harsh -- beautifully so...!! @Alun Lambert: Cheers Alun -- it was amazing to look out at the sea -- i felt like it stretched forever! @shoti: Thanks Edwin! :) Michael Skorulski from Cigel, Hong KongBeautiful, Jaycee. The light and composition are superb. 23 Jul 2008 1:48pm @Michael Skorulski: Thanks Michael!! :) Steven from Chicagoland, United StatesA great vantage point captured here. You have shared so many shots of Iceland that I never would have associated with the country. 23 Jul 2008 1:59pm @Steven: Thanks Steven! Iceland is a stunning country mate! I know most of my friends were shocked when i announced i was going -- strangely Americans only think of Iceland as barren and uninhabitable... but it is so the opposite! Image Hawaii (but non tropical) and Yosemite put together on an island -- with Death Valley thrown in for good measure... simply amazing! hugo poon from hong kong, Hong KongWhat a wonderfully pleasant view and the grass seems so soft and warm..... Very lovely shot DJ!! 23 Jul 2008 2:12pm @hugo poon: Thanks Hugo! This place was simply radiant! Such good energy and clean waters and wind! bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaA wonderful balance between land and sky. I love how the minimal (amount) of colours play off of each other with such great compliment! 23 Jul 2008 3:00pm @bluechameleon: Thanks BC! Funny but that is the way i often feel too -- even though most places have been visited by hundreds and thousands -- sometimes millions -- of people already... i always feel like i am one of the first... even though it is completely untrue, it feels good to imagine that it is the truth! Mackenzie from Salem, Oregon, United StatesThis is stunning, the colors are lovely yet have a nice contrast. Well done! 23 Jul 2008 3:00pm @Mackenzie: Thank you Mackenzie! :) RHYS from United KingdomI LIKE THE SENSE OF EMPTINESS AND SCALE, MAKES YOU FEEL QUITE HUMBLE. 23 Jul 2008 3:22pm @RHYS: Hello Rhys! :) Good to hear from you!
