@GJC: Thanks for the comment and feedback mate! To answer your question, I left the island on the right side so the eye can more easily judge distance as it moves backward in the frame... I could have taken it out... and it wouldn't have ruined the composition by any means... but by keeping it in, the photo has more rhythm... from front to middle to back and then to the far horizon. Do you agree? :) Thank you again for the feedback!

@Mirko Herzner: Thanks Mirko -- yes, it was the shadow that spoke to me at this location... in every conceivable direction, there was beautiful water and islands and sky... but i figured the shadow would add another level of complexity... Glad you see that too!

@Observing: Thanks Mike -- you could probably swim there! I swam to the island to the right... it only took about 5 minutes! :)

@drum: cheers mate! :) yes - i kept that small portion of the island on the far right as it serves as a good median point for the eye to wander from the foreground to the middle and finally to the background in the far distance!

@akarui: Thanks Akarui! Yep, i swam through some shallow lagoons until i came across this 'cave-like' over hang. I loved the deep contrast of the shadow to the bright and very hot light of the tropical sun. I can only say i wish i had had my wide lens... I would have loved to expand the lens perimeter and capture even more of the scenery! :)

@Jrask: Cheers Joshua! What a coincidene... this shot was taken on the back side of Railay Beach after i swam through a few shallow lagoons and into a bit of a cave!! I loved my time there! :) When did you go? How long ago?

@bluechameleon: Thanks Blue! The shadow of the 'cave-like' wall really drew me in... wasn't sure if it would come out ok as the contrast was pretty great -- glad to see it still gave me amazing color and detail on one side and the rich velvety blacks on the other! :) Thanks again!
