Images from a Buddhist Wedding, Thailand

These are my beautiful friends, Daisy & Luke -- Aussie mates of mine that got hitched in Thailand last October. The Buddhist ceremony was simply beautiful. There were seemingly hundreds of flower bouquets... mostly exotic orchids... There was an amazing historic and colorful procession with chanting and singing, drumming and clapping. Juvenile banana trees were carried as gifts of prosperity... The wedding was magical and marvelous on all accounts.

This picture is taken shortly after the main ceremonies ended and just before the formal wedding pictures were to begin... There were cheers and congratulations, hugs and reminiscing -- champagne was being poured somewhere out of frame.

The sun had just broken through the low lying clouds and the temperature had risen quite steeply to about 36 degrees celcius... As you can see here, the bride and groom are just begining to sweat the real tropical mid-day sweat -- Daisy is attempting to wipe her brow without wiping off the 3 traditional dots of make-up the bride receives at the end of the ceremonies. Luke's dot on the other hand is mostly gone by this point. (In order for the dot to be painted on his head at the end of the ceremony his whole brow had to be wiped with a cloth! That was a humorous moment!) My goodness it was humid!
