Chena Ice Museum Interior, Central Alaska

Posted by dj.tigersprout (New York City, United States) on 6 June 2008 in Architecture and Portfolio.

This is an interior view (towards the entrance) of the Chena Ice Museum, 1.5 hours drive north of Fairbanks, Alaska. Everything was made of ice... it was pretty amazing. The temperature was kept at 20 degrees fahrenheit... just cool enough to keep everything nice and frosty (i should mention that this was 35 degrees WARMER then it was outside!!!)

LED lights were used to give the different areas of the museum different and sometimes, constantly changing hues (you can see hints of blue, green, yellow and purple in the pic). Behind me (not pictured) were the 3 hotel rooms that went for a pricey $500 dollars per night!
