Michael Skorulski from Cigel, SlovakiaA wonderful image. That red rock is beautiful. 29 May 2008 5:11am @Michael Skorulski: Thank you! This is just as the sun began to break over the edge of the chasm... we had just arrived... i'm glad i got 5 or so minutes to make my shots before the light got too contrasty. :) dobbino from Cape Town, South AfricaNicely taken - shows off the wonderful craftsmanship of days gone by. 29 May 2008 7:36am @dobbino: Cheers mate! @Pinxi: Thank you! Yes, i was very lucky... 5 minutes later and i would have had to do a heap of post production! :) @vu@granby - Wolfgang: Many thanks! There is more to come from Sydney, Australia, and Jerusalem, Israel... stay tuned! :) @Alun Lambert: Thanks mate! Cheers. @Riccardo: Hello! This is from Petra, Jordan -- one of the new wonders of the world... (even though it is 2000 years old and should have been included in the original wonders of the world...) It is an amazing place! I am surprised you have not heard of it? When i was there i only met french, spanish and italian tourists! You guys LOVE the place! I would imagine there are great deals on travel for you!!! Check it out, the place rocks! :) Davylyn from South San Francisco, United StatesThis is a gorgeous pic. I remember this piece from the Indiana Jones movie... just breathtaking. 29 May 2008 4:08pm @Davylyn: Thank you kindly! johnnyanne from United StatesDid they carve that out of a rock? It's intricate and beautiful. 29 May 2008 4:57pm @johnnyanne: yes -- this is sandstone, often with a granite base... so much easier to manipulate than the pyramids... but still it would be a feat today and we have technology! :) thanks for the comment! @Pedro Callealta: muchas gracias amigo! @Thomas Griffioen: Thanks mate! Petra is full of all hues of reddish rock... such an amazing place! I can only imagine what it would have looked like to the original inhabitants 2000 some years ago... all of the original detail would have been just incredible and breath-taking! Baz from Teglia, United KingdomI like the light and the framing, excellent work! 29 May 2008 6:32pm @Baz: Thank you! As i was on a cliff that most people don't ever get taken to i figured i would go for a detailed shot of the top of the building. Glad i did so! @lissa: In a sense, this is a giant 2000 year old sandstone castle...! Literally! :) Thanks! zOOm from Paris, FranceI've already said it, but Petra is really a magical place. Wonderful colours once again. 29 May 2008 7:01pm @zOOm: Many thanks mate!! Much appreciated! fcofont from Valencia, SpainI agree with zOOm, wonderful colours and amazing place. Great capture! 29 May 2008 8:48pm @fcofont: Thank you, thank you!! Evelyne Dubos from Le Mans, FranceYes of course a fabulous place i hope to see one day... beautiful point of view. 29 May 2008 10:07pm @Evelyne Dubos: Thank you!! Condemna from Barcelona, AndorraThis place is really fascinating, and your shot is different from what is usually seen. Good job! 29 May 2008 10:58pm @Condemna: Many thanks! Yes i consider myself VERY lucky as i was befriended by a local bedouin (at 5AM) who got me into the park free of charge and then gave me a 'behind' the scenes, special places and locations not usually viewed by tourists tour -- totally free!!! It was an amazing, nearly 12 hour long adventure!!! Michael Rawluk from Prince George, CanadaIt sounds like you had a very special time and got some excellent shots. 30 May 2008 12:50am @Michael Rawluk: Thank you! Yes, it was an excellent trip and i highly recommend putting a trip to Jordan on your list if your interested. Cheers. @Vink: Cheers Laurent! It was an amazing place and the colors were simply out of this world! :) Calusarus from St Sorlin en Valloire, FranceWhere's Indy and his father ? Nice shot. How did you do it : climbing ? 15 Jul 2008 5:58am @Calusarus: Yep -- we climbed and climbed! It wasn't too hard of a climb, but it did take awhile... and it was 100+ degrees fahrenheit! But it was worth it for this view... and there was no one else in sight! Thanks for the comments! :) |
