Alun Lambert from cheshire, United KingdomVery interesting image, love them colours 25 May 2008 6:20am @Alun Lambert: thanks! yes, reminds me of some sort of japanese abstraction... the colors are intense! @MahGol: i was really trying to find a way to bring a slice of rock back with me... had to settle for a photo instead! :( Observing from Chester, United KingdomHi dj :) many thanks for all your kind comments on observing I appreciate that. This rock formation is amazing with all the different layers of minerals and metals. I envy you visiting Petra, it's a place I've always wanted to visit too. Super photo ! 25 May 2008 8:59am @Observing: No worries mate, thanks! Definitely keep Petra on your 'MUST SEE' list... it will knock your socks off! The desert there is absolutely amazing, the colors rich and brilliant... but best of all... the people of Jordan are simply beautiful, very humble and extremely kind hearted... if nothing else, go for the humanitarian experience! Pedro from Santander, SpainStrange rock formation indeed, great detail and colors, beautiful picture 25 May 2008 10:12am @Pedro: Muchas Gracias, Pedro! Wizened Eye from United StatesIt's a good thing we weren't asked to guess what this is! (My first thought was, "Is that a pile of salmon???") Amazing color and a very strange rock formation indeed. As design/art, it's a neat photo, although I would like to see another shot containing something that would put the size of the formation in perspective - can't tell if this is a macro shot or a view of something much larger. 25 May 2008 10:37am @Wizened Eye: Thanks for the interest! Actually this isn't a macro but a simple close up i took of the rock just in front of me. The wall face was quite huge though, so i could have zoomed out to capture more of it... however i wanted the interesting and subtle texture on the rock surface (see the light 'scratch' lines?) i should have another photo that might give a more understandable scale -- will have to search for it! Baz from Teglia, United Kingdomamazing colors and details. At first I thought it was something edible... 25 May 2008 11:14am @Baz: Yes -- if it were edible it would be nice right? Most likely, it would be very flavorful, and maybe sweet? :) Thanks for the comment! zOOm from Paris, FrancePetra is a wonderful place, those red rocks are simply divine whatever is the time of day. 25 May 2008 11:59am @zOOm: Thanks for the comment! I agree with you, and i can't wait to get back for another visit! @Levi: Thanks Levi!! Hugs to you fam, see you next year! x @Cheryl: Yes it was amazing to see... Luckily it was ubiquitous to the area... although this patch really got me excited due to the thicker lines and patterning. Thanks! @Terry: Thanks! pierre from athis mons, FranceI agree with Wizened Eye, it looks like fish in the thumbnail view ! Fantastic shot for a fantastic place ! 25 May 2008 8:16pm @pierre: Thank you much! Yes i can see how it would look like lox from the thumbnail. :) Chris from South Jersey, United StatesWonderful colors - sounds like Petra is an amazing place to visit (not sure I will ever get there though!). You really captured these unusual rocks well - keep it up!! 25 May 2008 9:48pm @Chris: Thanks for the comment! Jordan is a good distance away... but only 10 hours for you as you are on the east coast! It was basically 17 for me! :) Evelyne Dubos from Le Mans, FranceI like these sorts of rocks with incredible colors and curves, it makes great colorful and abstract pictures. Have you seen mine from Antelope Canyon on my portfolio (3,4,5 et 6 avril) ? 25 May 2008 11:10pm @Evelyne Dubos: Thanks for the heads up! :) I will check these dates in your portfolio! Looks like i need to hit up Peru sometime soon! Such amazing natural backdrop to live in! (and photograph!) bm from Budapest, HungaryWonderful colors and shapes - without knowing what they were I would have been left wondering... 27 May 2008 9:55am @bm: Thank you! Yes, had i not seen it with my own eyes i would have had no clue as well! :) Wendysworks from Slaterville Springs, United StatesI thought it was fish or some kind of meat in a stack! I loved the shot when I thought that, and now I know what it is I love it even more. Great colors and texture. 29 May 2008 3:13pm @Wendysworks: Ha! That is even more awesome! Love your vivid imagination! :) lissa from New York, United Statesyou have such wonderful colorful shots, this one's just as great 29 May 2008 6:37pm @lissa: Many thanks! I don't yet own photoshop, so all the color comes from the natural colors of Jordan's landscapes... I saw such intense colors there! @Eddie: Cheers mate! Imagine this all over the canyon walls... It was awesome! Tobian from New York, United StatesWow. I looks alive. 17 Sep 2008 2:38pm |
