@Rags: thanks for the comment! i loved the soft light inside the museum and was very happy to have been able to capture the moment as i experienced it! MahGol from Tehran, Iranits amazing .. its gotta be one of those big igloos or ice hotels .. right? 24 May 2008 1:55pm @MahGol: Thanks for the comment! Yes you are correct, it is actually an ice museum in alaska, but they have rooms you can rent for the night too! Everything is made of ice... the art and sculpture, the bar (that serves martinis in ice glasses), the chandeliers, the beds... everything! @Baz: Thanks for the comment! I snapped this pic at the Chena Hot Springs Ice Museum in central Alaska... The entire museum is made of ice including the bar (and glasses), the bedrooms and the chandeliers. Amazing place! Elspeth from St. Augustine, Trinidad and TobagoOh yes, I've heard of ice hotels! Fantastic! I think there is one in Quebec as well. 24 May 2008 7:12pm @Elspeth: Thanks for the comment! I believe you are right... i think i have also heard of an ice hotel in Quebec. You should check it out! I would imagine it would be pretty cool inside, excuse the pun. :) @Observing: Thanks! I almost decided not to enter the museum as there was an entrance fee. But Meeyoung wanted to see what was inside so i figured i would come in after all. Very glad that i did as it made for some unique and colorful lighting. Line Lamarre from Chambly, Québec, CanadaYes there is one in Quebec and it's very expensive for one night. 26 May 2008 11:41am @Line Lamarre: Sincere thanks! Kenton from Calgary, CanadaI have always wanted to visit one of these type of building. Fantastic shot. 27 May 2008 6:23pm @Kenton: Thank you! The lighting was really soft, colorful and low-light... made a great opportunity for some interesting shots. @Twelvebit: thanks for the comment! alaska was pretty darn awesome even though i was freezing the entire time! so you used to dj then? still do by chance? Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesNo, no dj-ing, but I played the trumpet for years. I never did it professionally, but I did it enough to know that --for me anyway-- nothing feels as good as making music. Of course, I like all kinds of music, from Classical to Hip Hop, but as a trumpet player, nothing beats Louie Armstrong playing the Potato Head Blues. 28 May 2008 4:28am @Twelvebit: sweet. yes, music is the best thing there is... and trumpet is one of my top favs... that and french horn. will check out the potatoe head blues then... thanks for the heads up! pedro alexandre from loures, Portugalsomeone turn the heat on!!!, nice and frosty. 28 May 2008 8:49pm @pedro alexandre: 20 Fahrenheit degrees to be exact! :) it was my first ice museum... i didn't realize how amazing it would be inside... i was pretty impressed! Wendysworks from Slaterville Springs, United StatesVery impressive. Would love to visit the museum myself someday. This photo is great PR for the museum. 29 May 2008 3:19pm @Wendysworks: Many thanks, i got quite a few interesting shots inside... but this takes the cake and represents all the other shots i took the best. The lighting was just perfect! And it was Meeyoung that convinced me to go to the museum in the first place... so it is perfect that she ended up in this shot. Great place, great experience, great memory of the place! Thanks for your comments! Cheers. @lucie: Yep, an ice museum, bar & hotel too! :) a perfectly chilly 20 degrees! |
